How does the horse agency work?

Buying and selling horses through Caballo Horsemarket is easy: you entrust us with selling your horse as well as finding you a horse that is just right for you. Through years of experience and great contacts with horse breeders, training stables and riders, we are able to connect you with potential buyers or sellers. We also offer you support and guidance throughout the process of buying or selling horses.

How does our horse agency work and which costs should you expect?

Placing a horse usually starts with a call or an email. What matters for us at this stage is getting to know you and to understand what you are looking for. We emphasise the personal and competent aspect of our agency, because contact and a thorough understanding of our clients’ wants and needs is crucial to the success of our work. For example, are you selling your horse for private reasons? Are you looking for a horse that suits you well? Can we support you with marketing your bred horses?

Through this initial conversation we are able to understand your wishes, so that we can develop a concept for how to best meet your needs. If you want to sell your horse(s), we will then provide you with a form where you can describe your horse in detail.

After that, you can simply lean back and relax while we do the work. First, we use the information about your horse to put together a professional ad. We then place it as a Power-Ad in our horse market and, unless otherwise requested, also in 16 other major German and international online horse markets.

Subsequently, we pass your ad or your request on to our partners. Depending on what you need, we will approach studs, training stables, competition riders, trainers or compatible private clients. To reach out to as many people as possible, we also maintain a large network of close contacts abroad (particularly in Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland and North America).

Responses to your ad are initially received by us, so that we can filter them according to your wishes. This saves you the hassle of dealing with responses that are not of interest for you. When we find a suitable client for you, we will forward you the communication. This way, we can usually present you potential buyers or sellers within a few days.

As soon as we have found what you are looking for, the further procedure is up to you. You are free to co-ordinate the following arrangements yourself, but we are also happy to finalise the transaction together with you.

What do the services of our horse agency cost?

We charge 10% of the selling price as commission [1]. However, we add this to your asking price, so that the actual placement of an ad is free of charge.

Only once the transaction has been successful we will charge you for our services. If you have found a buyer independently or have changed your mind, we will not charge you for our services.

What this means for you is that you carry no risk and no contract obligations. We also do not demand any exclusive rights for placing your horse. Instead, we count on mutual trust as the foundation of a successful transaction.

[1] The commission is subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
