Caballo Horsemarket: Special Shire Horse mare Calypso

Thank you for your interest in our Shire Horse mare Calypso.

Calypso was born in 2016 and has full papers from the English Shire Horse Society.

With a height of 1.73 cm, she is not a giantess, but has all the great characteristics of the Shire Horse breed.

In terms of character, it is a special feature. She likes to choose "her" person and demands peace and serenity from them. In return, you get a reliable and people-oriented partner who – if the chemistry is right – would go through fire for her human.

Calypso was acquired by us as a broodmare. Unfortunately, we already noticed Mauke when they arrived, which is good to treat but still stubborn. Since it has not yet been scientifically proven whether mud fever or the predisposition to it are hereditary, we have decided not to use them for breeding. As breeders, we see it as our responsibility not to take any risks – towards the animal.

Instead, Calypso was ridden regularly and showed himself to be very well-behaved and motivated. Due to time constraints, her riding was a long time ago, so you would have to start again with the basics.

Calypso is part of a mixed herd association and has now proven to be herd-compatible and social. She is also basically familiar with stall keeping, although she feels much more comfortable in a paddock box or in an open stable. She is sociable and straightforward to deal with, but insists that she be praised when she does something great and that everything goes smoothly. She likes to react to stress and pressure with stubbornness.

We have decided to look for a place for Calypso with people who are willing to take care of themselves.
