What to consider when buying horses from abroad?

If you buy a horse within the EU and bring them to Germany, it is best to do the following:

How can I edit my ads?

Please use the page My Horses to edit one of your horse ads.

If you are not signed in, you will be prompted to enter your username and password first.

Once you're signed in, you will see a list of your horse ads. On the right of each entry you can find a pencil icon as a button. Use this button to edit the corresponding ad.

Like the horse offer, a wizard will guide you through your ad data. In the first step you may change the attributes of your horse. The second step allows you to upload further pictures/videos to your ad.

Note: Some attributes of your horse cannot be changed anymore (because they actually can't change logically, e.g. a haflinger will never become an arab).

How can I delete one of my ads?

Please use the page My Horses to delete one of your horse ads.

Once you're signed in, you will see a list of your horse ads. On the right of each entry you can find a trash icon as a button. Use this button to delete the corresponding ad.

How do I create a horse ad?

Please use the page Sell a Horse to create a new horse ad.

If you are not signed in, you will be prompted to enter your username and password first. If you haven't got an user account yet, you first need to sign up. Registration is free of charge and without any obligations.

Once you're signed in, you will see a little wizard which guides you through the process of creating an ad. This process consists of a few steps which are described below. Your current step is highlighted within the progress bar at the top of the page.

• Choose Advertisement Type

  First of all choose the advertisement type you want to create. Each type gives you different possibilities and has different prices.

  For further details on advertisement types and prices, please refer to our list of prices.

• Describe Your Horse

  In the next step you will be prompted to describe your horse. Just a few fields are required (like breed, gender, colour, age). Nevertheless, we recommend to fill out as much information as you can/want provide to increase you selling chance.

• Add Pictures and/or Videos

  Now you can add pictures and/or videos of your horse. The first image will become the gallery image.
  
  We recommend to add at least one picture. Depending on your chosen advertisement type you may add further images and videos.

• Confirmation

  The last step summarizes the data of your ad. Please take a minute and review the information. Not all data can be changed later on.
  
  Finally, you need to accept our terms and privacy policy and hit the "Finish" button!

When your ad has been created successfully, you will see a congratulation message. You should also get a confirmation email shortly.

If you didn't choose the standard ad type (free of charge), you furthermore should see payment instructions. These can be found in your confirmation email too.

How can I increase upload speed of larger videos?

The upload of files with a normal Internet connection normally takes much longer than downloading files. Basically, you can't do not very much about that, except paying more money to your ISP. But who wants that ;)

However, there may be another solution for this problem: shrink the video BEFORE uploading it.

The videos from your camera are usually uncompressed and very high resolution. However, after uploading videos most providers (YouTube, MyVideo and also Caballo) reduce the resolution again in order to limit storage space and get better loading time when viewing the video. So why not reduce the video size already BEFORE you upload it?

This works normally quite good with Windows Movie Maker. If you use Windows XP, it is probably already installed on your PC. Just take a look if it is (under Start - Accessories - Media).

If it does not exist, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft's website. When using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can get the Movie Maker using the following link: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker

Here is a brief guide to shrink your video with Windows Movie Maker:

• Start Windows Movie Maker
• Drag your video file and drop it into the Movie Maker window
• Afterwards, save the movie as WMV (Windows Media Video) in standard quality.

Your video should be much smaller now. If necessary, you might even further reduce the video quality, stating when you save the videos. Depending on the demands on the quality of the video, here you may have to test a little bit. However, using the default settings you already should get video which can be uploaded much faster than before.
